The retail price of tomatoes is currently between INR 180 to 200 per kilogram. The Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food, and Public Distribution has directed retail shops to provide tomatoes to consumers at lower rates starting from Friday in the Delhi-NCR region. The National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumer Federation have been instructed to purchase tomatoes from wholesale markets in Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra and distribute them through major consumer centers.
