Shimla, the capital of Himachal Pradesh, received 99.2 mm of rain in the last 12 hours, due to which landslides damaged several vehicles parked on the roadside.
The State Emergency Operation Center said 20 roads, including the National Highway-5 near Theog in Shimla, were blocked due to heavy rains.
Moderate to heavy rains have been recorded in many parts of the state since Friday.
The meteorological office said that Kataula in Mandi district of the state received 163.3 mm of rain, Sinhuta 160 mm, Kasauli 145 mm, Kangra 143.5 mm.
Apart from this, 99.2 mm in the capital Shimla, 81 mm in Gohar, 76.5 mm in Jubbarhatti, 74 mm in Pandoh, 70 mm in Sundernagar, 65.2 mm in Pachhad, 58.5 mm in Mandi, 58 mm in Kufri, 48.5 mm in Dharamshala, Solan 44 mm of rain was recorded in Nahan and 39 mm of rain.
The local weather office has issued an ‘Orange Alert’ warning of ‘heavy’ to ‘very heavy’ rain at isolated places on June 25 and June 26, with thunderstorms and lightning. At the same time, on June 27 and June 28, warning of ‘Yellow Alert’ has been issued, predicting thunderstorm and lightning.
Officials of the Shimla Water Management Corporation Limited said that due to heavy siltation in the water bodies, the water supply would be affected in the next few days. He urged people to use water judiciously.
