Speed limit changed for Abu Dhabi Sweihan Road. Fine of 500 AED announced.

Abu Dhabi authorities have announced a reduction in the speed limit on Sweihan Road, from Al Falah Bridge towards Abu Dhabi International Airport. The revised speed limit, which goes into effect on Sunday, June 4, has been dropped from 140kmph to 120kmph.

Changes for Traffic Safety

This decision is based on studies demonstrating that lower speed limits can enhance traffic safety, according to the Abu Dhabi Police General Command. They, in collaboration with the Integrated Transport Centre, have released a joint advisory about the change.

Signboards have been erected along the route to inform drivers of the new speed limit. The police are urging motorists to observe their speed and comply with all traffic rules and regulations for the safety of all road users.

Penalties for Violations

Violators of the revised speed limit will face a substantial fine of AED 500 and will be given six black points on their driving record. The Abu Dhabi Police General Command, in cooperation with the Integrated Transport Centre, has advised motorists to strictly adhere to these new regulations.
