Police cannot seize your mobile phone just like that. High Court has issued an order for journalists.

GulfHindi English Desk: The Kerala High Court has made it clear that the police cannot seize the phones of journalists without following proper legal procedures. It has been stated that journalists are the fourth pillar of democracy and their needs should be respected.

If there is a need to seize the phones of journalists for a particular case, it can only be done according to the provisions of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC). This order came in response to a petition filed by a Malayalam daily newspaper journalist, G. Vishakan.

In another case, the Supreme Court has granted interim relief to Scarria under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act. Earlier, a special court in Kerala had denied relief to Scarria.
