Mandatory exam for foreign workers in Saudi for these 18 Roles announced.

Foreign workers seeking employment in Saudi Arabia will now undergo a skill test before being granted work. This change comes as part of the Skill Verification Program (SVP) that was launched in 2021. Although the program has not yet been implemented across all job types, it is being slowly expanded, with the first phase already in effect for selected sectors.

As of now, the skill test has been made mandatory for workers in 19 sectors, including:

1. Plumbing
2. Pipe fitting
3. Building Electrician
4. Automotive Electrician
5. Welding
6. Flame Cutting
7. Underwater Welder
8. Electrical Equipment Assembler
9. Electrical Transformer Assembler
10. Drilling Rig Electrician
11. Electrical Panel Assembler
12. Electrical Equipment Maintenance Worker
13. Electric Cable Connectors
14. Electrical Power Line Worker
15. Electronic Switch Board Assembler
16. Blacksmith
17. Cooling Equipment Assembler
18. Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Mechanics

This new system aims to ensure that workers are appropriately skilled for their jobs, improving productivity and work quality. The test will be taken under the verification program before Indian workers are appointed to these roles in Saudi Arabia.
