GulfHindi English Desk: The central government has directed state governments to provide a one-time option to All India Service (AIS) officers who were appointed before the implementation of the National Pension Scheme (NPS) on December 22, 2023.
Changes in the Old Pension Scheme from NPS
Those who joined government service after January 1, 2004, and were covered under NPS will now have the opportunity to be covered under the provisions of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS). Interested employees can avail of this option until November 30.
Eligibility and Process
Qualified employees will be issued orders to take advantage of the Old Pension Scheme until January 31, 2024. Their NPS accounts will be closed by March 31, 2024.
Application and Eligibility Criteria
The Department of Personnel and Training has informed the Chief Secretaries of the Centralized States that AIS officers, who were covered under NPS upon joining service on or after January 1, 2004, may be given the option to be covered under the provisions of the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) once.
