An Indian Couple Finds Their Missing Son Dead in UAE
Dubai:
An Indian couple came to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in search of their missing son. They were devastated when they discovered their son’s lifeless body, according to a report in the Khaleej Times. The son had died of a heart attack, and his body remained unidentified for several days as he lived alone and had limited contact with others. The couple had not seen their son for over a decade, despite numerous pleas for him to come back home.
Son’s Engagement Breakup Led to His Disappearance
According to social worker Ashraf Thamarassery, the son faced difficulties in his hometown after his engagement was called off. “He never returned home after that,” Thamarassery revealed. After losing contact with their son for several months, the worried parents decided to travel to the UAE to search for him. With minimal information, they tirelessly knocked on doors until they found their son’s address. Tragically, they learned that he had passed away.
Heartbreaking Identification Process
The grieving parents went to the mortuary to identify their son’s body and complete the necessary repatriation formalities. Ashraf, who assisted the couple, described their profound sadness, stating, “I can never forget the sadness on the faces of the parents. It was one of the most heart-rending cases I have seen.” The UAE is home to an estimated 3.86 million Indian expatriates, accounting for over 38% of the country’s total population.
A Tragic Trend
This incident is not the first of its kind in the UAE. In June of this year, a 35-year-old Indian expatriate died from electrocution while taking a shower at home in Dubai. Additionally, a 48-year-old man from Kerala went missing in the UAE and was later found dead in a Pakistani jail. The Indian authorities received his body at the Attari border after it was handed over by the Pakistani government.
